Shirojudokwai is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the well being of all its members. The management believes that it is important that members, coaches, managers and parents associated with the academy should, at all times, show respect and understanding for the safety and welfare of others. Therefore, members are encouraged to be open at all times and to share any concerns or complaints that they may have about any aspect of the academy and dojo.
As a member of Shirojudokwai you are expected to abide by the following rules:
Safety
Any medical issues must be brought to the attention of all coaches.
Always ask permission to leave and enter the mat.
Keep hydrated - bring a bottle of water with you. Drinks breaks will take place during classes - do not leave to get a drink without asking permission from your coach.
Let your coach know if you feel unwell or you are injured.
All children must be collected by responsible person.
Hygiene
All nails should be cut short.
Wear suitable kit, which should be clean and non-odorous, female members must also wear a white plain Tee shirt.
No metallic or hard objects to be worn.
Long hair must be tied back with a soft scrunchie (remember no hard objects!).
No bracelets or wrist straps/ties.
No footwear to be worn on the judo mats. Appropriate footwear should be worn to the mat edge.
Etiquette
Arrive on time for your class, late arrivals must wait on the mat side to be invited onto the mat.
Bow when entering or leaving mat.
Always bow to your partner when starting or finishing practice.
Respect all coaches and each other.
Respect
Always train your hardest and give your best.
Be a good friend - welcome newcomers, be helpful and kind.
All members must play within the rules and respect officials and their decisions.
All members must respect coaches/training partners/opponents.
Always listen to your coach.
Never leave the mat area without asking permission from the coach in charge first.
No name calling or nasty comments will be tolerated.
No insults/tormenting/racial or religious comments will be tolerated.
No teasing or being unfriendly.
No bullying of any type.
Any form of anti social behaviour will not be tolerated.
Any form of strike (punch/kick), biting, pinching or threatening behaviour will not be tolerated.
